Star Wars Test
Star Wars is a movie franchise whose history began with the first Star Wars movie Episode IV - A New Hope back in 1977. The creator of the movies is the scriptwriter, director and producer George Lucas. Star Wars essentially consists of three movie trilogies: The original trilogy which consists of Episode IV - A New Hope, Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI - Return of the Jedi; the prequel trilogy which consists of Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Episode II - Attack of the Clones and Episode III - Revenge of the Sith; and finally the sequel trilogy which consists of The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and the last one The Rise of Skywalker which was sheduled to be released on December 20, 2019 in the US.
The movies take place in a fictitious universe where they have to deal with an ongoing dispute between good and evil - two sites which are represented by the light and dark site of the force. The first two trilogies telling basically the doom of the Galactic Republic, the rise of the Galactic Imperium and the successful revolution against the Imperium by the former leaders of the Republic.
As measured by their box-office receipts, which are all in all above 9 billion dollars, Star Wars is one of the most successful movie series ever. One of their most important awards are 10 Oscars. To the Star Wars franchise, which is one of the most profitable, belongs spin-off movies and tv shows, more than 250 novels and comics, toys and countless other merchandising products. They made a profit of about 30 billion dollars with the selling of Star Wars products until 2015.
In 2012 George Lucas sold his company along with all right, including Star Wars, to the Walt Disney Company. The Force Awakens was the first Star Wars movie under the aegis of Disney, followed by The Last Jedi in December 2017. Bob Iger, CEO of the Walt Disney Company, announced in November 2017 that there will be another trilogy after the sequel trilogy, written and produced by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.
